Vehicle Adoption Program
Corporate sponsors, small businesses, and individuals may adopt one of the 62 BI vehicles for a period of one year. In return, the business brand or logo or the individual's name will be applied to the adopted vehicle for twelve months. For more information . . .

BIG Club
- Becoming Independent Giving Club
The BIG Club allows you to make regular monthly donations which, over a year’s time, are built into a substantial gift that is recognized by a year-end letter and in our Annual Report. For more information . . .

General Gifts

Cash donations are the most typical kind of gift provided to BI and can be put to good use by the Board of Directors and the management staff to address unmet needs as they arise. Examples of how your contribution might be used are to start a critical new service, repair or replace a vehicle, keep BI owned buildings well maintained, or upgrade BI’s computer systems for greater organizational efficiency and effectiveness. BI accepts VISA, MasterCard, electronic funds transfer, online donations, or, of course, cash or check.

Honorary & Memorial Gifts
Honor an individual or occasion with a contribution to BI. Your thoughts and memories of a loved one can forever, provide great benefits to people with developmental disabilities.

Gifts of Personal Property
Everything from house, boat, or car to tickets to shows and sporting events can make a great difference in the life of a person receiving services from BI.

Stocks & Securities
Donations of stocks and securities are a great way to help while avoiding capital gains tax on appreciated investments.

Volunteer

You can volunteer your time to help improve the quality of life for our Becoming Independent clients. Volunteers are needed to help with general office work, give tours of our facility, work side by side with our clients as they participate in different activities, or help out with special events. Students with hearts, souls and skills desired at Becoming Independent to teach, advocate, and support people with disabilities and their families.

BI is working to establish the following paid and unpaid internship opportunities for all majors:

Garden/Horticulture production and sales
Information and referral for families
Fund development and marketing
Facilities management
Assembly/Production management
Aging adult services/gerontology
Disability/Legal/Legislative advocacy
Physical fitness
Recreation, physical, and occupational therapy

The internship program at Becoming Independent strives to . . .

•Provide inspiration, education, employment, and support in dynamic and diverse community based settings

•Enable students to apply skills and talents to unique situations that affect people with developmental disabilities and their families.

•In an inclusive environment, we will promote creativity, collaboration, and success for each student who chooses to help BI achieve their mission:
