Becoming Independent offers three offerings for people seeking employment opportunities: Supported Employment Services, Tailored Day Services, and Vocational Services.
Supported Employment Services assists individuals with employment preparation, job seeking services, placement, and job coaching in competitive positions throughout the community. Services include instruction in the key skills required to secure and retain competitive employment, including the development of communication and interpersonal skills; job seeking strategies; acquiring assistance from other supportive agencies (ex: Regional Center and Department of Rehabilitation); destination/travel training; on the job skill training; and pursuing opportunities for advancement and supporting changing needs in the workplace.
Tailored Day Services (TDS) provides one-on-one support for people who want to explore their vocational, volunteer or continuing educational interests geared towards an employment outcome. Internships, job exploration, education, and micro-enterprise development are among TDS’s offerings.
Vocational Services provides paid work on-site and in local businesses to individuals interested in a variety of employment opportunities, and who may be working toward competitive employment. While jobs differ, depending on the needs of local employers, skills worked on include focusing on tasks, following directions, accepting feedback, checking quality of work and other skills that are fundamental for success in employment.
Everyone is very careful, safe and pays attention to details. When RCU makes specific requests for the week, the team performs exceptional work. Our campus looks great after Becoming Independent performs the weekly visit. We really appreciate everyone at Becoming Independent!
