ELEVATING HUMAN ABILITIES SINCE 1967

BI Buzz Services

BI Buzz Services is the latest addition to Becoming Independent’s Social Enterprise Division. Thanks to a ground-breaking partnership with Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART Train), BI has been operating the concession services aboard the entire fleet since 2017.

Now, Kaiser Permanente and BI will celebrate a significant milestone in their longstanding partnership with the opening of the BI Buzz Café at the new Mercury Way Medical Offices. The café will feature locally sourced “grab and go” sandwiches, salads, and wraps, as well as coffee and pastries provided by local vendors such as Andy’s Produce, Taylor Lane Organic Coffee, and Red Bird Bakery.

Fun Fact:

The BI Buzz allows us to interact with close to 5,000 community members on a monthly basis, creating increased awareness about Becoming Independent and the services we offer.

From the moment that BI approached us about operating the café at our new facility, we knew it had the potential to build in a very positive way on a longstanding community partnership. They’re excited to have the opportunity to offer their participants opportunities for job training and social interaction, and we’re delighted that these interactions promise to help dispel stigmas about people with different abilities.
