Work-Life Balance

Work-life balance is a priority at BI. We work hard to ensure that every employee feels supported and encouraged to have a healthy balance between work and home commitments. BI offers comprehensive paid time off to accommodate family, vacations, and important life events because we believe that rest and a full life outside of work makes for a happier, healthier team.

Flexible Schedules

BI offers part-time flexible positions that are convenient for students, parents, and others who are unable to work a full-time schedule.

Social Impact

A career at BI means you are making a meaningful contribution to our community by building innovative partnerships and fostering authentic human connections. We believe that every social investment has the potential to be broadly transformative.

Dynamic Culture

We provide an environment where employees are recognized for their efforts, and where individuality, creativity, and contributions are valued. We strive to create a workplace that is inclusive and where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Comprehensive Training

Our comprehensive training model is imperative for the success and development of our staff. We offer a new hire training program that offers hands-on training experience learning alongside your fellow peers. Staff also participate in BI’s monthly virtual agency trainings where we offer interactive courses relating to the field of human services, professional and personal development throughout the year.

BI equips each employee with an electronic device, such as a laptop or tablet and mobile device, to be successful in your role. Devices are used to communicate within the organization and as a resource to accessing the community.

The people working at BI and the clients have created a community that makes you proud to work here.

They go above and beyond for their employees, making us feel like we are valued and our work is noticed. Our clients love being here and working with the staff. It is rewarding to be able to make a difference in someones life each and every day.

It’s not just a job. It’s like home and we are all a family.

Opportunities for Everyone

Becoming Independent brings diverse communities of people together, and we take the same approach when building our teams. We thrive on differences and believe it is critical to the success of supporting people with disabilities.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace that seeks to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We therefore encourage applications from all genders, races, religions, ages, sexual orientations, and any other groups that could bring diverse perspectives to our business.

How We Hire

Ideal Candidate:
BI fosters a community of inclusion. The ideal candidate is someone who has passion for our purpose and is dedicated to making an impact in our community and the lives of others. Experience in the field is beneficial, but on the job training is provided. We encourage individuals with a positive attitude, compassion, empathy, and a strong work ethic to apply.

As a licensed facility, we are required to satisfy a few contingencies for anyone hired at BI. It is required for all staff to complete fingerprinting, which would notify our licensing of any potential barriers. Staff utilize their personal vehicles for business purposes, which requires a clean DMV record. A functional capacity exam is conducted for candidates to be sure that the physical demands of the job are not too strenuous. Becoming Independent covers the costs of all of these items. Occasionally, these contingencies can take longer to complete. The sooner they are completed, the sooner we can get you started.
