Living Services

Becoming Independent offers 2 service options for those who wish to live independently:

Independent Living Services (ILS) are centered around developing skills in targeted areas to achieve the level of independence of one’s choosing. Living independently looks different for each individual and ILS helps develop a plan to gain those personalized skills. Those skill objectives span, but are not limited to, supporting people in getting a driver’s license and using public transportation to money management and developing cooking skills. ILS services are provided in the community in a one-on-one staff to learner ratio. Objectives are designed based on an assessment of the individual’s current skills across domains including self-advocacy, health and safety, personal and social skills, mobility, accessing community resources, and financial management.

Supported Living Services (SLS) provide the support required for a person to live their most independent life, in their own home, on their own terms. Services are flexible and person centered, offering customized assistance that meet the individual’s level of need. Services range from weekly check-ins to 24 hour support. People who participate in SLS services have access to support groups, recreational and social opportunities, 24 hour emergency response, and ongoing support in all aspects of community living.
